About Telluride Resort

Welcome to Telluride, Colorado, a historic mining town nestled amidst the awe-inspiring peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Its unique location in a box canyon, flanked by majestic 13,000 and 14,000-foot peaks, provides a breathtaking backdrop for outdoor adventures. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark District in 1964, Telluride's rich history is evident in its colorful Victorian-era homes, clapboard storefronts, and historic buildings, making it a delight to explore.

Despite its compact size—just eight blocks wide and twelve blocks long—Telluride offers a wealth of attractions and activities. Whether strolling along its historic streets, browsing boutiques and art galleries, or dining in gourmet restaurants, visitors are immersed in the town's vibrant culture. And getting around in Telluride is a breeze! Transportation within Telluride is convenient and eco-friendly, with free shuttles and a gondola system providing easy access to skiing, hiking trails, and other attractions.

When there’s snow on the ground, getting around Telluride can be fun, especially if you’re staying in a ski-in/ski-out condo. Just put on your skis or snowshoes and head out. And when the ground is bereft of snow, head out on your mountain bike or fat bike, or just put on a pair of comfy shoes and walk everywhere. Things are pretty close together in both Mountain Village and Telluride, and you can get away without a car most of the time.

If you're interested in exploring the surrounding wilderness, you may want to rent a car (preferably one with four-wheel drive) or use a ride-hailing service to get to spots outside of town. ATVs and snowmobiles are an alternate way to get to some of the popular spots outside of town, like Alta Lakes or one of the nearby ghost towns or abandoned mines.

In Telluride, outdoor enthusiasts are spoiled for choice, no matter the season. From the thrill of skiing and snowboarding down snowy slopes in winter to savoring the tranquility of a mountain hike, fishing, or mountain biking in summer, Telluride promises an unforgettable mountain getaway for all who visit.

The Lodging Company can help you find the perfect Telluride vacation rental in just the right spot. Whether you book a downtown vacation home or a ski-in/ski-out condo for unparalleled access to the slopes, you’ll be close to all the things you’ve come here to enjoy.

Getting to Telluride Resort

Travel to Telluride and Mountain Village is easy, with direct flights from five major hubs in the summer and 11 hubs in the winter months. The Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is just 10 minutes from the heart of both Telluride and Mountain Village, while the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) is a scenic 65 miles away.

Several transportation companies provide service from Telluride to Montrose. Rental cars are also available at Montrose Airport; however, when staying in Telluride, skiing, walking, biking, the free gondola, and the Galloping Goose shuttle will be the recommended and most convenient modes of transportation. Due to the pedestrian nature of Telluride, most visitors will choose to skip the car rental altogether.

Even when choosing the charm of the Mountain Village, you’ll enjoy access to a free shuttle service (called Dial-A-Ride), and, as is the case with many of the Mountain Village homes, you are often just a short walk or gondola ride away from the Mountain Village core, shops, restaurants, ski lifts, golf course, biking, and hiking trails.
