Big White is my favourite ski resort! It’s easy to drive to Big White, or you can fly to Kelowna and it's a 40-minute easy drive to the resort. Whether you’re there in the summer or winter, there’s plenty of terrain for all levels of skiers, boarders, and riders. The ski school is excellent, as well as the mountain biking school. There’s a good variety of dining and shopping options, and my favourite restaurant/bar is Snowshoe Sam’s, which is also family-friendly! Lodging options are impressive and there’s something that will fit everyone’s budget. Big White is ranked Canada’s number one family-friendly ski resort and is a year-round destination. My family goes several times in the winter and summer, it’s awesome!

Big White has become my family's home mountain in the last couple years and although I did give it a few lower ratings on some aspects, the skiing far outweighs the bad. Big White does an amazing job at grooming the runs so if you can get up for first chair, I highly recommend it. It can get a little foggy on some days but as long as you have a pair of clear goggles you can easily get around. On a bluebird day the view of the Monashees is absolutely amazing and makes up for the foggy days! They have incredible areas for beginner skiers, like down in Happy Valley, which offers 3 magic carpets. Once comfortable on this area, you can head over to the Plaza chair which will provide a little more steepness but still using a beginner pass and a beginner chair. Once you have graduated from the beginner areas they have some nice green runs that the whole family can do.

When you are not skiing they have a skating rink, a tube hill, horse sleigh rides, dog sledding and every Saturday they do a small firework show. I do wish there were a little more shopping and dining options, however it is a smaller resort which really helps to keep the lift lines shorter. The drive from Kelowna is only 45 minutes and they offer shuttles from the airport throughout the entire day at a low cost. Last but not least, most of the mountain lodging is ski-in/ski-out with the majority of condos having a private hot tub or at the very least a common one.
