Palisades Tahoe Resort features 6,000 acres of skiable terrain, stunning views of crystal blue Lake Tahoe, and remains a historic part of ski culture. Once home to the 1960 Winter Olympics, Palisades offers an alpine adventure for all. At just one location, snow sport lovers have access to two different mountains connected by gondola. Palisades has even spent $1.4 million on upgrading their snowmaking machines and added three Pisten Bully snowcats to their fleet, ensuring better snow conditions for the 2024/25 season. Here’s your ultimate guide on planning the perfect weekend at Palisades.

Back to Basics

Feeling rusty before arriving at the mountain? Brush up on your skills and receive personalized instruction with a lesson. Palisades has group and private ski/snowboard lessons. The levels range from beginner/intermediate/advanced/expert. After you experience the landscape from 9:30 a.m. to noon with a teacher, you'll be ready to explore all the slopes have to offer. Don’t forget to take a break and fuel up! The Chalet at Alpine Meadows beer garden has plenty of deck space to enjoy the fresh air. Relax a bit and enjoy watching people go up and down the hill. Next on the itinerary? Intermediate skiers and families relish The Treeline Cirque lift, as the terrain is relatively split between blues, blacks, and groomers. From here, take the Sherwood chair and get lost in a magical forest. The Alpine side has many great routes to enjoy!

Embrace the Adventure

For your second day, commit to spending time on the Palisades side of the hill. Ride as the locals do, and plan for competitive, fun routes off KT-22 lift. The “Legendary Lift” provides access to chutes, steeps, and wide-open bowls perfect for thrill seekers. Don’t just take our word, KT-22 is consistently ranked as one of the top chairlifts in the United States. On a fresh powder day, community members often arrive at 5 a.m. just to get a fresh line. It’s important to note, there won’t be any groomers and it’s heavily encouraged to be an experienced rider. Confident in your skills and want to get an iconic run in? The easiest way down is to follow the ridge towards Saddle. image

Relax and Recharge

Even if snow sports aren’t your jam, Tahoe has a wide variety of activities to enjoy. Visitors can recharge at the luxurious Everline Spa & Resort, conveniently nestled in Olympic Valley. Everline offers a range of services to keep you feeling your best, including facials, massages, year-round outdoor jacuzzis, couple retreats, and more. Take note that Everline encourages reservations in advance. image

If you are looking for wholesome family fun in the evening, we encourage you to check out the Northstar Village Ice Skate Rink located only a 24-minute drive away in Truckee. Rental skates are available or you can bring your own. This 9,000-square-foot rink is a local favorite due to the full bar, cozy fires, and oftentimes live music. Visitors will feel right at home with Truckee’s laid-back atmosphere and quintessential ski town vibes.

Stay Awhile

After a weekend of playing in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range, your tired muscles appreciate your dedication towards self-care! Start your morning off right and be sure to book a class at Palisades Yoga Studio. Students can enjoy a nourishing practice in addition to stunning mountain views. The studio encourages all skill levels to attend. After you have incorporated some mindful movement, stop inside Coffeebar’s Olympic Valley location. Their menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and cafe bites so there is something to satisfy everyone. Coffebar prides itself on its hand-roasted beans. Bring a taste of Tahoe back home with you and shop their wide selection of roasts and blends.
