We’ve put together a list of winter activities at ski resorts everyone will enjoy, whether you’re a non-skier or just taking a day off from the slopes.

Snow Tubing

Tubing is fast becoming a favourite pastime for ski resort vacationers. It’s similar to tobogganing, but offers the added convenience of a lift to take you back up the hill. Many tubing parks features a range of terrain, ensuring options that are perfect for children and families along with daredevils.

Ice Walls and Climbing

Ice climbing walls vary from resort to resort, each offering various levels of difficulty. Challenge your friends to see who can reach the top first, the thrill of scaling a towering ice wall is sure to create an unforgettable vacation memory.

Skating

Ice skating at a ski resort is done outdoors on a nearby pond or lake, or in the village center. Anywhere with a skating rink will have a skate rental shop so the only thing you will need to bring is a good pair of socks – and a decent sense of balance.

Sleigh Ride

A horse-drawn sleigh ride is a family must and great way to explore the area in comfort. Resorts may offer tours by day or night, and some will even take you out to a cabin in the snowy woods to enjoy a gourmet meal, making for a memorable adventure under the stars.

This winter classic will make you feel light as a feather when you walk atop the snow. Snowshoeing grants you access to winter landscapes that you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise, and equipment rentals cost less than skis and snowboards, making it a very reasonable winter activity.

A fast-paced and thrilling way to explore remote terrain, snowmobiling can take you up steep mountain trails and through untapped wilderness.

Nordic Skiing

Unlike downhill skiing, Nordic skiing is a slower, low impact activity done on mostly flat or gently rolling terrain. Many resorts will have dedicated Nordic and cross-country skiing terrain, guided tours, and gear rental.

Après-Ski

A French term made popular in the Alps, après-ski refers to any number of post-ski activities — most notably meeting up with ski buddies for drinks and a snack. Food and drink specials, themed parties, and casual gatherings all fall under the après umbrella.
